Mother Mother
Mother Mother is a Canadian indie rock band that emerged in 2005 on Quadra Island, British Columbia, led by vocalist and guitarist Ryan Guldemond. Known for their eclectic sound, rich harmonies, and sharp lyrical edge, the band has evolved over the years but remains anchored by core members Molly Guldemond (vocals, keyboards), Jasmin Parkin (vocals, keyboards), Ali Siadat (drums), and Mike Young (bass). Blending indie rock, alternative, and art-pop influences, they have carved out a distinct sonic identity and built a dedicated global fanbase.
A staple on the Canadian and international touring circuit for nearly two decades, Mother Mother first gained traction with their 2007 album Touch Up. They have since released multiple critically acclaimed records, including O My Heart (2008), Eureka (2011), No Culture (2017), Inside (2021), and most recently, Grief Chapter (2024).
In Kitchener-Waterloo, the band has played numerous shows at Maxwell’s Concerts and Events, with a standout performance at Centre In The Square on May 10, 2022, during The Inside Tour. This tour followed a surge in their popularity, fueled by the viral revival of songs like "Hayloft" on TikTok, which introduced their music to a new generation of fans. Their live performances are known for electrifying energy, strong audience engagement, and intricate vocal arrangements.
As of 2025, Mother Mother is on tour promoting Grief Chapter, with dates across North America and Europe. While they won’t be stopping in Kitchener-Waterloo this time, fans can catch them at Canada Life Place in London, Ontario, on February 27, 2025.
With their ever-evolving sound and dynamic stage presence, Mother Mother continues to solidify their status as one of Canada’s most innovative and beloved alternative rock bands.
