Blue Rodeo

Blue Rodeo, Canada’s alt-country darlings and songsmiths of the Canadian Songbook, have woven themselves deeply into the cultural fabric of Kitchener's music scene. For over three decades, they’ve been a cornerstone of live entertainment in the region, building a storied history that connects their timeless music with the city’s most iconic venues.

The relationship began in 1988, when Blue Rodeo performed at Stages Nightclub in downtown Kitchener—a humble yet pivotal venue for emerging bands during that era. That performance marked the start of an enduring love affair between the band and the Kitchener community. Over time, as Blue Rodeo’s reputation blossomed nationally and internationally, so too did their presence in the city.

Centre In The Square became the band’s primary stage in Kitchener, where they’ve performed more shows than nearly any other contemporary artist. Only the legendary Gordon Lightfoot and Bruce Cockburn have possibly surpassed Blue Rodeo’s presence at the venue, a testament to the loyalty of their fans and the powerful connection they share with the city. These concerts have become more than just events—they’re annual pilgrimages for music lovers who relish the magic of seeing Jim Cuddy, Greg Keelor, Bazil Donovan, Colin Cripps, Glenn Milchem, and Mike Boguski come together on stage.

Being able to document a small portion of their journey in Kitchener has been extraordinary. Since 2010, I’ve had the privilege of not just witnessing, but actively shaping Blue Rodeo’s story in Kitchener. Whether it’s through marketing their tours, capturing their spirit in photographs, or being immersed in the soul of their performances it’s been a privilege to watch from the sidelines each year.

Every show is more than a performance—it’s an evening of storytelling, musical mastery, and an unspoken camaraderie between the band and their audience. When Blue Rodeo plugs in and turns up, it’s an invitation to lose yourself in their sound for a few hours, a transcendent experience that lingers long after the final note fades.

Here are photos from every show I’ve captured/worked.

If you’re in need of a little extra support with marketing or PR—whether it's crafting the perfect story, creating a buzz, or just getting started—I'd love to help. No budget is too small, and I’m here to work with you to make things happen. Email us, we’d love to hear from you.
